The Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney is seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Private Secretary to the Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney, Bishop Terence Brady. This role is a full time position and will be based at either Liverpool or the Polding Centre, Sydney CBD.
The role of Private Secretary is responsible for providing to high-level executive and administrative support to Bishop Terence Brady. The Private Secretary will play a critical role in managing Bishop Brady’s administrative workload arising from his responsibilities as Auxiliary Bishop. The Private Secretary will be required to develop a clear understanding of the activities of the Auxiliary Bishop and to coordinate his correspondence and communication with parishes, agencies, schools and other bodies, and to manage his diary, work schedules and plans. The Private Secretary will also be required to prepare briefings and reports, and provide theological and secondary research for Bishop Brady’s homilies, articles, addresses, and catechesis.
To be successful in this role the ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to the ethos and values of the Catholic Church; minimum of five years relevant experience in a similar role; strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; demonstrated ability to work effectively without close supervision; excellent organisational skills; familiarity with Ecclesial structure; professional manner and presentation; excellent people and communication skills; and the ability to act with discretion and to maintain complete confidentiality.
