The Catechumenate Office is an agency of the Archdiocese of Sydney that promotes an understanding of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) and encourages its implementation in parishes, schools and universities. This role is a full time position and is based at the Polding Centre, Sydney.
The role of Director Catechumenate Office will involve: working with parishes towards an understanding, the implementation and celebration of the RCIA and Children of catechetical age; the design and implementation of workshops at parish, regional and diocesan level; organisation of the ritual celebrations of the Rite of Election and the Paschal Eucharist Mass; ensuring that current resources and materials are made available throughout the Archdiocese: and to promote the RCIA and RCIC through parishes and schools. The Director will initiate, support and coordinate these works within the Archdiocese under the supervision of the Episcopal Vicar for Renewal and Evangelisation.
The ideal candidate will have experience in working with parishes and schools; experience with adult initiation and/or children’s sacramental preparation; qualification in Theology and/or Liturgy, or equivalent research skills and experience; the capability of teaching in adult learning situations; good written and communications skills; excellent people skills; and a demonstrated commitment to the ethos and values of the Catholic Church.
